1 In California, the registered owner of a vehicle is responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle, unless it was stolen without the keys.

Note:

Your employee's vehicle insurance will usually be the primary coverage.

2 Your employee's injury should be covered by Workers Compensation

3 If you are held liable for the incident, you would be covered through Non-Owned Auto Liability.

4 If you allow an employee to do something for you using his/her vehicle and s/he is not properly licensed; has a driving problem as evidenced by his/her DMV record; abuse drugs, alcohol, medicine; or you have knowledge of mental, physical and/or emotional conditions that might affect his/her driving abilities - you may expose yourself to punitive damages in an award from the Court.

Note:

Punitive damages are not covered by insurance.
